About

About Larry Koehrsen

I am a native of Southwest Iowa, having grown up on a farm near Walnut.  I still own the family farm, now a Century Farm, and operate it with both production and conservation objectives.

As a lifelong Iowan, I have great respect for the people and the resources of Iowa.  However I am increasingly concerned about the impacts of climate change, and the need for enlightened stewardship of our land and water.

My background is Civil Engineering.  I have BS and MS degrees from Iowa State University.  and a professional career working on many domestic and international civil works and environmental projects.  I am currently retired and living in Ames, Iowa.

Over the past two and one-half years, I have been writing essays on the environment, conservation, and climate change.  Approximately 65 of these pieces have been printed on the opinion pages of the Muscatine Journal, Ames Tribune, Boone News-Republican and Council Bluffs Daily Nonpareil.  These columns are intended to provide insight on the problems we face, and to explore constructive options moving forward.
